Here’s what’s jumping out on this March 28 slate: books are hanging massive NBA spreads and not blinking. San Antonio opened -18.5 at Milwaukee and stayed there. Phoenix opened -16.5 vs Utah and stayed there. Atlanta even got bet down from -15.5 to -14.5 despite facing a weak opponent.

That tells you something important. Books are comfortable letting bettors lay huge numbers right now, and in some spots they are not getting the follow-through they expected.

The problem is this isn’t normal basketball anymore. Late March NBA brings lineup volatility, strange rotations, and plenty of garbage-time chaos. Meanwhile, the sharper signals are showing up in totals. Detroit-Minnesota dropped from 224.5 to 222.5 with Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards out, and Minnesota has gone 4-1 ATS without Edwards with four Unders in those games.

Big favorites look obvious. The market is quietly telling you something else.

What this tells us: When Pistons-Wolves and Iowa-Illinois are getting hammered down while Purdue-Arizona climbs, the market is clearly pricing pace and scoring, not sides. Totals are reacting to real information. Spreads on big favorites are just sitting there, waiting for public money.
